Ponytail Hat Crochet Pattern

I made the hat as an addition to the fingerless gloves. The pattern is basically the same and it is explained with many details and pictures in the tutorial for the gloves (as I made them first). If you want to make only the hat and have a question, take a brief look at the gloves tutorial. The hat is very stylish, I really love it!

Materials:

  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • recommended for the hook light pink and turquoise yarn (I used 100% cotton 115 m = 50 g)
  • scissors

Abbreviations:

First of all I want to warn you to not get scared by the abbreviations you don’t know! The “difficult” or better to say new stitches are explained here! I am sure, after finishing this pattern you will be full of inspiration and you will want to use your new skills more and more, and maybe even design your own patterns!

  • ch – chain
  • st – stitch
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • ddec – in this case: double crochet next 2 st together
  • FPtrc – front post treble crochet (US crochet terms)
  • exFPtrc – extended front post treble crochet (US crochet terms)
  • (…) X 5 – repeat “…” 5 times

Ribbling (work with turquoise yarn)

8 ch + 1 turning ch
Round 1-101: sc in all st, 1 ch (8)
Fold the ribbling together, crochet through both the first and the last rows.
Round 102: sl st in all st (8)

Now we turn the ribbling inside out so that the sl st row is not visible.

The rest of the hat:

Round 1: sc in all st (one sc in every row of the ribbling, see the picture below), sl st (101)

Round 2: change to light pink yarn. 3 ch, dc in back loops in all st, sl st (101)

Round 3: 3 ch, dc in next st, (exFPtrc in next 4 dc, dc in next 7 st, exFPtrc in next 2 dc, dc in next 7 st) X 5, sl st (101)
